Bankrupt for this module!

I have to confess first that this ES2007S costed me 1800 CORS points. I guess the demand was very high and the supply was too low(16 people per class). So I am bankrupt now...

Nonetheless, I would say that it is all worthwhile. I did learn a lot from this heavy elective module.
I have learnt to:
1)be a teacher (for once only :P)
We made sure that we really taught something beneficial to the students. Putting myself in the shoes of a teacher, I could understand how they feel when students are cooperative and hard working. Now I appreciate my professors and tutors more because I could feel how they feel while teaching.

2)be a team player
Inevitably, there were some frictions while we try to work as a team. There were some clashes of ideas. I have learnt to compromise and try to reach a consensus. Everyone in team took initiative to contribute to the success of our project. At times when I felt that it was not the right way, I tried very hard to convince my team mates. For example, when the majority of the team believed that our proposed programme should be made compulsory to all freshmen, I tried my best to persuade them  to drop that idea and make it an optional one which was more realistic and feasible. And thanks to Alicia Alvin and Vinod for finally agreeing with me!

3)be an active blogger
I thought blogging is a good platform to practice written communications. It is much better than MSN or other time-consuming venues in which people seldom write a proper sentence. The sharing of application letters was extremely helpful because seldom do we find such a rich pool of application letter samples. The books on  cover letter and resume are often outdated. I will definitely recommend my friends to visit our blogs and take a look at all the excellent application letters.

4)be a good speaker
It is all about people and communications. Everything else is secondary. No one could read my mind if I could not get my message across.  Speak, speak and speak well!

Looking through the list, I believe this learning experience definitely worth more that 1800 CORS points!

  1. Hi Xi Xi,

    Final blog post, YAY!

A vey concise post to sum up your experience! If I were to choose 1 out of your 4 points for my take away, I would have agree to your point on being a team player. In fact, like you, I had learnt to compromise among our teammates and to settle for a decision which we could agree on. I am proud to say we managed to steer away from any interpersonal conflicts. (Y) Thanks once again, Xixi, it was a joy working alongside with you. :)

PS: I GOT THIS MODULE FOR ONLY 1 POINT. xD

    Cheers,
    Alvin

  2. Hi Xi Xi,

I also got this module with 1 point:) I'll have 3000+ points when the next bidding round starts next semester, want some?

I still remember the day we met just before our first class. You were having a bowl of noodle soup at the science canteen, at the table beside mine. Little did I expect you would become my classmate for this module.

Does this mean you'll only be blogging for one semester? If you're not, it would be something for me to look forward to read in the future.

Although we never got to work alongside each other for this module, I was glad that we did for CSC 2010. From that, I liked your professional manner in working. The meetings were structured, this gave me a very good impression you're a very organised person. That aside, it was good to have known you, and good luck for your finals!

  3. Hi Xi Xi,

This is one of the great things I admire about your post. A concise and yet detailed post summing up almost everything we have learned from this module. I appreciate your team work experience. Our skills have definitely improved in terms of public speaking, writing impressive blogs and communication well with fellow peers either in an informal way or in a professional way.

Thanks for sharing such an informative post regarding our learning from this module. I really appreciate and acknowledge all of our efforts.

    Cheers!!

  4. Hi Alvin,

It was a pleasure to work with you too. Thanks for teaching me to use Presi!

Yes, it is about finding a consensus among team members. Every decision we made during preparations of peer teaching and research project was a product of our thoughtful discussions. This is what makes teamwork interesting.:)

    All the best!

  5. Hi Shivam,

It is true that my posts are often concise, because I really want to adhere the word limit required.:P I am glad that you like this style!

  6. Hi Wyhow,

Yes, I want some CORS points! Could you give me some? :P

It was a pleasure to work with you in Speech Contest! Our project could not survive without your contributions. You are really great at sponsorship management. Hope that all CCA teams could have talents like you, then they will not be worried about goodies and money any more.:P

    See you around!

  7. Hi Xixi,

Like Alvin, I also got this module for 1 Point using my P acct :D

That aside, I am glad that you have to learn much from this course and eventually you will be able to put these skills into good use.

I am quite surprised by the mention of being an active blogger from this course. I too share the same sentiments as you. Through blogging, we are able to express our inner feelings and emotions by penning them down. In my opinion, it is an exceptionally good alternative for me to express my thoughts and ideas.

I felt really honored knowing you as a exceptional individual with a keen drive for excellence. Once again, all the best for your finals and till we meet again.. someday I hope.. :D

    Cheers,
    Sylvester

  8. Hi Xixi, how did you end up spending so much points? Just like Alvin and the rest, we got it for only 1 point. No point looking back at it now though.

Well, the 4 points that you brought up are pretty much explains most of our module, with the rest obviously being pretty much indescriblable. I think you have been a great team player, able to work well along and taking time and effort to do the best for the team. Thanks for all the great times too! Wishing you all the best for the exams! I'm sure you will never stop being successful in what you do as long as you don't give up. -heers- =D

  9. Thanks, XiXi, for this very effective final post, employing yet again your knack for zooming in on the key items at hand, in this case, those being the roles that you have assumed in ES2007S. While brevity is a virtue in this post, you have not sacrificed completeness as you concretely detail each of the roles. As I have throughout the term, I appreciate your effort here. You have done an exemplary job.

All the best in your future!

  10. Hi Xixi!

I couldn't help but agree more on your view of learning to be a team player. Indeed, there were a few times when we had a clash of ideas during our meetings. This may be due to our nature of being relatively strong-headed. But I'm glad that we always manage to come to a common consensus somehow. Like you, it really taught me the importance of compromising and learning how to give and take. I guess that through all the collaborative projects, we have somehow mastered this aspect of teamwork! (:

7Cs-wise, you have managed to nail a concise post yet again! What's best is that your completeness is hardly compromised and that's what makes your posts interesting. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for being a part of this class, Xixi. Pity we didn't get to take a group picture on the last day! But I'm sure we will meet up again somehow! I've never mentioned this before, but I'm truly awed by your determination and perseverance that you exude towards your work. Like what Alvin had mentioned before, you never whine or complain about the heavy workload, but you just accept whatever is thrown at you and just perform the tasks to the best you can. This is something that I really admire and I got to learn from you!

Alright, see you around Xi Xi! It's been great knowing you and all the best for your finals! (:

  12. Hi XiXi,

I love how you started the post with the 1800 CORS points! It drew my attention immediately, and very effective. I guess it has been a very fruitful semester for all of us.

It was a pleasure to have gotten to know you somehow, through the first ice-breaking session, knowing you used xiaonei instead of Facebook (you can consider switching loyalties!), and over the course, through blog comments where you've offered wise and comforting words. Unforgettably, during our peer teaching where you valiantly volunteered your interview skills to test! :)I've admired your spunk ever since.

As it draws to the end of the lesson, thanks for the little lessons you have taught, through your action. All the best in life's endeavours!
